Public Affairs Committee (PAC) is scheduled to meet all the presidential candidates in the May 21 tripartite elections individually to sign an agreement to maintain peace and abide by the outcome of the elections.

PAC’s chairperson Reverend Felix Chingota said the body will engage the candidates earlier to the elections.

“The move is one of the activities the body will engage in prior to the elections,” Chingota said.

He further said that during 2014 elections the same activity was engaged of which some candidates did not sign the peace accord.

PAC says signing the peace accord would minimize conflicts between the contesting parties and abide by the election result announcement procedures.

PAC is scheduled to hold its first meeting with Mbakuwaku Movement for Development (MMD) president Peter Dominic Kuwani then the body will engage United Democratic Front (UDF) president Atupele Muluzi.

The meetings will be taking place at Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe starting on Wednesday.
