Police in Zomba have arrested five students from Malawi College of Health Sciences (Zomba campus) for allegedly blocking the main road with burnt tyres this morning.
Zomba police station Public Relations Officer Sub Inspector, Patricia Supliano confirmed of the arrest in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).
According to Supliano, the police are still hunting for the other students who took part in the ‘illegal’ demonstrations.
One of the students said they decided to block the road because they are not learning due to the strike by their lecturers and other staff members.
The lecturers want government to address a number of challenges bordering on working conditions.
