Lilongwe magistrate court in Lilongwe has denied Vincent Wandale permission to travel to Zambia for medical attention.
Wandale, a self-proclaimed supreme leader of the so called independent country, United States of Mulanje Thyolo (Must) was arrested under the charge of publication of false statements likely to cause fear and alarm to the public.
According to Wandale’s lawyer Oscar Taulo said his client needed to see the doctor.
“My client needed to see the doctor in Zambia,” he said.
But police prosecutor, Napier Chafikana argued that Wandale’s dates for appointment were March 26 and 29, 2019.
For this reason the court denied to grant him the permission.
His lawyer, however said he will make a new application with new dates.
Wandale, a civil servant in the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development, came to limelight after spearheading a movement for people’s land rights in Mulanje and Thyolo.
