Two brothers in Mzimba have allegedly killed their elder brother after picking a quarrel over cow ownership.

“The two suspects, Mavuto and Mosses Vuma killed their brother, Mangaliso Vuma, 41 years, on April 3, this year.

On March 25, 2019, the deceased wanted to snatch the cow from Mavuto. As a result, a fight ensued between the two.

Later, Moses joined the fight. He took a wood and hit Mangaliso on the forehead.”

“Mangaliso sustained a deep wound and he was taken to Mhalaunda Health Centre where he was treated as an out patient.

However, on April 3, situation for the patient worsened. He was referred to Mzimba District Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.”

Postmortem indicates death is as a result of severe loss of blood secondary to head injury.

Police have arrested Mavuto, 35 years old while Moses is at large and efforts are underway to apprehend him.

They will answer murder charge contrary to section 209 of the Penal Code.

Meanwhile, the officer in charge for Mzimba police station Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (S.A.C.P.) Mr Ackis Muwanga is appealing to people to find better ways of settling disputes other than resorting to fights.

The suspects and the deceased come from Mawaleka Village, in the area of Inkosi ya Makosi M’mbelwa 5 in the district.
