Vice President and UTM presidential candidate Saulos Chilima has warned State parastatals that are using public funds to finance elections campaign, indirectly refering to the governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) as the beneficiary.
He mentioned Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) and Malawi Revenue Authority as some of parastatals financing the ruling party in the form of special operations.
Addressing the parastatals’ bosses, he warned, “We know that you are funding them and you will be liable”
Chilima further promised to name more parastatals that are using State funds to finance campaigns at his next rally in Kasungu.
He made the remarks during a rally at Naotcha Primary school ground on Sunday.
