The Executive Director of UNAIDS, Michael Sidibe has saluted Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika for demonstrating commitment to social transformation.
Sidibe made the remarks during a meeting with Mutharika at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.
According to Sidibe, Malawi has tried in ending health challenges.
“Malawi was a shining example in efforts to end health challenges among its people on the continent,” said Sidibe.
He further asked Mutharika to lobby for more funding for health investment and financing.
Mutharika who is also the champion for global finance replenishment of Trade Related aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) by the UNAIDS has been asked to ensure local drug manufacturing security in least developed countries.
Sidibe added that African countries should also lobby to start manufacturing drugs.
