An angry mob in Ntcheu has killed two unknown suspected robbers before torching them in the wee hours of Sunday in a foiled attempted robbery in the district.

Ntcheu Police Station Publicist, Sub Inspector Hastings Chigalu, says the incident happened at Willy Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Mpando in the district.

According to Chigalu, the two were in a company of five people and allegedly wanted to rob a 58 year old business man in the district.

“The suspected unknown robbers hacked the business man on his forehead who later screamed for a help from surrounding communities,” Sub Inspector Chigalu said.

He said three suspects managed to escape while the two were caught by the community after failing to escape and were allegedly assaulted to death before torched in the process.

Police has since launched a man hunt looking for the other three unknown robbers on the run.

Meanwhile, police are advising members of the community to distance themselves in mob justice acts, saying it is punishable by the law.
