A 21 year old woman has been found in a decomposed state at her house after missing for close to five days in the capital Lilongwe.
The deceased has been identified as Ellen Dulamizu, an employ of Shahin Workshop in area 4.
According to police report made available to faceofmalawi reporter, on April 11 the deceased is believed to have brought a burning mbaula inside her small bedsitter with closed windows and door.
In the midst of waiting to cook she fell asleep, as the mbaula was burning.
“On 14th April at around 1400 hrs the Land lord noticed some smell and flies on the window of her quarters and he checked and found out that the door was locked from inside and he informed the aunt of the deceased identified as Mrs Khuma Sitima who reported the matter to Area 36 Police unit where CID officers visited the scene and opened the door where they found the deceased lying in decomposed state and postmortem examination was later conducted by medical officer from KCH who pronounced the cause of the death as due to Hypoxia: lack of oxygen (often caused by poisonous gasses like those released by charcoal burners),” reads in part the police report.
The deceased hailed from Kololo Village, Traditional Authority Kalolo Lilongwe
