Police in Zomba have arrested the driver responsible for the accident that killed two Mzuzu University (Mzuni) Nursing students who were hit on the side road of M1 Road by a Toyota Pymia on Saturday, April 20 near Zomba Central Hospital.
The police in the district have arrested Elita Kawale Banda, 35 for allegedly driving recklessly which resulted into the death of the two final- year Mzuni Nursing students who were attached to Zomba Central Hospital for the practical part of their course.
Zomba Police Spokesperson, Sub Inspector Patricia Sipiliano confirmed the death of Semion Kasulo, 22, and Moses Khoza, 26, who died Saturday night after the fatal road accident which occurred in the evening.
“The driver will appear soon in court to answer charges of causing death by reckless driving,” Zomba Police Publicist Sipiliano said.
Zomba Central Hospital Director of Social Welfare Services, Juju Mthirakuwiri also confirmed the death of the two nursing students whose bodies have been taken to their homes for burial.
Khoza came from Chilomo Village, Senior Chief Mkhumba’s area in Phalombe while Kasulo hailed from Gumbwa Village, Traditional authority Chimombo in Nsanje.
