A video clip of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) runningmate Everton Chimulirenji claiming that President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika died in 2012 has gone viral on social media with many questioning his memory.

Chimulirenji’s brander comes barely months after President Mutharika’s advisor on youth Simon Vuwa Kaunda also alleged the same at a political rally.

According to the video clip seen by faceofmalawi reporter, Chimulirenji also failed to recall when the ruling DPP under late Bingu wa Mutharika started ruling the country.

It took the intervention of top officials who attended the rally to correct him on the exact year DPP started ruling the nation.

“DPP inayamba kulamula dziko lino 2009 kufika…..tayenda pamenepaja kepena mmm momwemo?..DPP inayamba kulamula 2004 kufika 2009..kufika mu 2012 tinaonekeledwa ngozi ya Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika mzimu wawo Uwuse mumtendere,” Chimulirenji is quoted as saying.

Chimulirenji’s memory has left many Malawians with lot of question than answers.

Maurice B Chumachiyenda Kalimenda wrote: “ I now understand why Chimulirenji didn’t participate in the debates. The guy is dull akulephera kukumbukira simple issues komanso mu Chichewa kkkkkkk English ndiye kukadakhala kumbereketsa adverbs moopsa. DPP tivomereze tidaphonya apa.”

Concuring with Kalimenda’s remarks McDonald Donaldson Donald  wrote: “There are two issues in that video. The mention of APM as a dead man and failure to know when DPP started ruling. He was about to say from 2009 to 2004 (he started thinking in descending order). So which of the two is slip of the tongue?

“And some still believe that Chimulirenji can be our next president?.

Meanwhile debate continues on Chimulirenji’s remarks.
