Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) on Sunday has offered civic education to Nkhata Bay residents on how to vote in the impending tripartite elections.

The activity detained at Kalambwe Primary School in the area of Senior Chief Mkumbira in Nkhata Bay district.

MEC’s Northern Region, Civic and Voter Education Officer, Stella Mwachande said that they conducted the activity in order to teach people the proper way of voting.

“We want to educate people on the proper way of voting so that we reduce the occurrences of null and void ballot papers,” Mwachande said.

Mwachande further said that she was impressed with the turn out which included traditional leaders and she believes this will help carrying the message to their people.

“The turnout was good. The other good thing is that traditional leaders came and this will help carrying the message to their people,” the officer added.

Meanwhile, the National Initiative on Civic Education (NICE) is also one of the stakeholders in civic educating people on voting and making them ready for the 21st May 21, 2019 Tripartite Elections.
