Police in Capital Lilongwe have provided security alarms to protect People with Albinism (PWA) from attacks, abductions and killings.
The handover held at Mitundu in Lilongwe on Saturday.
The delivery of security alarms is in response to a request that APAM made to government.
Association of Persons with Albinism in Malawi (APAM) national coordinator, Overstone Kondowe said that the government is responding to some of the association’s demands.
“I am glad that government has provided security alarms and a vehicle to assist in the fight against killings and abductions of people with albinism. The campaign must be sustainable.” Kondowe said.
Malawi Police Service director of community police Commissioner, Merlyn Yolam said that police will give PWAs gadgets to ensure that they are safe.
Meanwhile, police also handed over a vehicle to Mitundu Police Unit for operations in the fight against killings and abduction of PWAs in the area which has 65 households of PWAs.
