Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) said it has collected 75 percent of the revenue through the e-payment.

This has been said by MRA Head of Corporate of Affairs Steve Kapoloma.

In his remarks Kapoloma said e-payment has helped MRA to compile and calculate the tax easily besides the challenge faced.

He further added that Malawians have welcomed e-tax payment as they are able to pay tax anywhere at any time.

“Malawians seem to embrace the e-tax payment, a customer pays his or her tax while at home or at work place others even outside the country at a fast rate and in real time,” said Kapoloma.

In order to address the challenges they have experienced, MRA intends to introduce Msonkho online.

“To address the challenge MRA plans to introduce Msonkho online to make sure that people can do all transactions online,” he said.

He added; “Msonkho online is part of the modernization initiatives that MRA is implementing.”

He further said that MRA is in the process of distributing forms to be complemented by a hundred MRA staff members who have been spreading across the country to engage taxpayers and guide them on how to complete the same.
