Police in Kasungu district have arrested a 39-year-old businessman who operates a bar at Mtunthana trading centre for being found with a firearm.
The suspect has been identified as Happy Msokera who hails from Chikwanda village in the area of traditional authority Chulu in Kasungu.
Reports say the suspect was arrested on suspicion that he took a hand in the theft of a motor cycle which occurred near his bar called Clubb 88.
In due process of investigation, police officers got credible information that the suspect was illegally possessing a firearm, hence the officers conducted a search at his residence and finally found the firearm, a Star pistol with a magazine containing four rounds of ammunition and a pair of handcuffs.
Meanwhile, Msokera is in police custody and investigations are underway to establish where he got the pistol from.
