The Public Affairs Committee (PAC) is planning to meet President Peter Mutharika to force him to sign the electoral peace declaration.

Six other presidential candidates have already signed the declaration, pledging to conduct a peaceful campaign and avoid fuelling post-election violence.

They signed a peace statement on Saturday in Lilongwe at the national prayers on elections organised by the PAC.

Mutharika did not attend the prayers.

For this, the PAC wants to meet Mutharika in private and make him sign the affirmation.
