A 19-year old cyclist in Phalombe died in a road accident after being hit by a vehicle along Phalombe-Jali road.
Confirming the incident Phalombe police public relation officer innocent Moses said The cyclist, Milliward Naveya, met his fate on Monday while pedaling to his right near Chinjika Primary School in Amos village.
“It is said that Naveya was hit by a vehicle that was being driven by 26-year old Ruth Mtunduwatha”.
“Mtunduwatha, in her VW Golf Saloon registration number KU 7312, was heading towards Miseufolo Roundabout from Phalombe Boma”.Moses confirmed .
He added that Mtunduwatha hit Naveya on the offside lane and sustained severe head injuries and He was pronounced dead on arrival at Mpasa Health Centre.
Naveya hailed from Mushimwa village in Traditional Authority Mkhumba in Phalombe District.
Meanwhile, police in the district are appealing to all road users to observe road safety and regulation to avoid accidents.
