ANC president, Cyril Ramaphosa, together with his wife, Dr Tshepo Motsepe, marked their X on the ballot sheet in Chiawelo, Soweto.

Large crowds gathered outside the polling station to greet the president, as he made his way to the booth to cast his vote.

On why people must give ANC a second chance, Ramaphosa said, “Our people need to believe us because over 25 years, the lives of our people have changed. But we have not yet filled the glass, it is half full, not half empty.”

“The nation and our people are energised to cast their vote. It’s also a period of hope,” said Ramaphosa. “This is a vote that reminds us of 1994.”
