The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has committed to provide half of the 500 vehicles currently required by the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to transport voting materials to and from polling centers across the country.

MEC requires 2, 154 vehicles for the exercise, but the government has only secured 85 percent of the vehicles.

In 2014, polling in several centers was delayed due to late delivery of voting materials, originating from transport challenges which resulted in rioting by concerned voters.
