The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development has confirmed that the country has registered more than 10,000 cases of foot and mouth disease.
The ministry’s spokesperson Hamilton Chimala said the districts of Chitipa, Kasungu, Mzimba and part of Mchinji are the ones currently registered with the disease.
Chimala said government is trying its best to contain the virus.
“Government has embarked on a vaccination exercise to contain the virus,” Chimala said.
The exercise started on April 17 this year in Mzimba.
