Chatha Stars emerged the champions after stunned Kaifa Starts 3-1 at Makalani ground in Chatha Ward Bonaza which was sponsored by Aspirant MCP Councilor Mathews Machila.

Chatha Stars walk away with K43, 000 while the runners up Kaifa Stars pocketed K35, 000 and the third team received K25, 000 while top 8 teams got K8, 000 each and all participating clubs received K5, 000 each in the K200, 000 tournament.

Speaking in an interview after the match, Mathews Machila said the main aim of the tournament was to empower the youth so that they do not engage in immoral behavior like chamba smoking, drug abusive sexual intercourse just to mention but a few.

“Apart from keeping them busy, another purpose was to expose hidden talent from the youth in the area and to expose talented players so that they can play in top Leagues and even play in national team,” he said.

Machila further said he will continue with the sponsorship with the same amount (K200, 000) and he will launch the bonanza shortly.

He also thanked aspirant MCP parliamentarian for Blantyre City South constituency Moses Nkukuyu for financial support during the competition.

He said Nkukuyu promised to buy first aid kit, to buy jersey for the teams, and to upgrade Makalani ground.
