United Transformation Movement (UTM) leader Saulos Chilima on Wednesday assented to youth manifesto promising to improve their well-being.
Chilima who said he will be the minister responsible for the youths once voted into power on May 21 elections signed the National Youth Manifesto committing to address numerous challenges faced by the youths in the country.
The manifesto will be used as a catalyst for economic transformation in the country as it is tackling issues such as the revising of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (Yedef).
While signing on the document Chilima said himself and UTM is committing to adopt issues in the manifesto.
He added that UTM manifesto has placed a lot of promises that will improve lives for the youths in the country.
“I subscribe to what the Youth Manifesto is saying. So I don’t have a choice but to endorse it,” said Chilima.
He added that just as the Motto of UTM is, the youths indeed deserve a bright future.
“Malawi Youths deserve a better future. Tsogolo la bwino lowala with UTM.” He said.

He added that Chilima’s commitment is a step ahead in trying to alleviate challenges the youths are facing.
Some of the points in the manifesto are; Access to youth employment. 500, 000 youths employed each year, no child should be learning under a tree by 2023, scrapping off quota system as a method of select students into universities, revise and redesign Youth Enterprise Development Fund (Yedef) and delink Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) from the office of the president in terms of the appointment of the director general.
