The ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has dismissed claims by Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima that it the forthcoming May 21 tripartite elections will be rigged.

Director of elections for DPP Ben Phiri made these remarks during a whistle stop tour political rally meetings he addressed recently in Malawi’s popular township of Ndirande.

He said people that are in United Transformation Movement (UTM) are disgruntled Politian’s who wanted ministerial positions in government and businesses.

“Some of them were denied businesses and they have no any development agenda for this country,” he said.

Phiri urged the people to vote for DPP to continue the development programs which they have already started and he challenged that no one can rig the elections because he is also a computer expert.

He further said that people that are in UTM are just making political drama that people will be watching after the elections starting from 26th of this month.

Phiri also criticize the main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) for failing to develop this country during their 31 year rule.

He said Malawians suffered during their regime and they can never allow them to rule this country again saying that the country has witness a number of meaningful developments under the DPP led administration.
