A 25-year-old Malawian woman who was arrested for drug trafficking in India in October 2018 has been freed unconditionally by Indian authorities.
The suspect Memory Chikakwiya has been in police cell in India for close to 7 months, according to report seen by faceofmalawi reporter.
Chikakwiya was arrested at an Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport for allegedly trying to smuggle around 14.5 kg Pseudoephedrine Narcotic substance worth Rs 21 lakh approximately stuffed inside chess and ludo boards.
According to published reports, Chikakwiya who has been in prison but is now being kept at a holding camp awaiting her repatriation back home has been freed unconditionally.
Chikakwiya will be repatriated back home next week.
