Mangochi Town Council (MTC) has said installation of street lights along the newly constructed Mangochi-Liwonde road will add beauty to the town.
The remarks has been made by MTC Chief Executive Officer Fannie Msimuko in an interview.
Msimuko said the lights complement the state-of-the-art Liwonde-Mangochi road which government has constructed with funding from the African Development Bank (ADB).
She further hailed government for the installation of the street lights describing the development as a relief to her council.
“This is a very good development and as Mangochi Town Council we are very happy with it because the street lights will add beauty to the town,” Msimuko said.
She added that her greatest concern is vandalism as people tend to steal and destroy government property.
“Vandalism is our biggest worry, people tend to steal and sell government property,” she complained.
She further appealed to Mangochi people to own the street lights and not vandalize them.
“My appeal is for people to own these street lights and desist from vandalizing them,” she appealed.
Msimuko cited that the newly installed street lights are solar powered no cost would be incurred in terms of electricity bills. jZ
