With five days to polls, the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has launched the SMS platform called Polling Assistant.
Eligible voters will have to dial *2019# enter voter registration number or national identity (ID) number through Airtel and TNM networks to get information about their polling stations.
Among others, the Polling Assistant will give details about voter’s polling stations and queue (mzere) to be used by a particular voter.
It aims to reduce congestion at polling station.
The initiative has been funded by UNDP Elections Basket Fund.
