Governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Shadow Member of Parliament for Chiradzulu South Constituency Joseph Mwanamveka shunned a political debate for shadow MP’s that are contesting in the area.
The debate was organized by the National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) for the shadow MP’s to tell people of the area what they have done and what they will do if people choose them.
It is reported that Mwanamveka was conducting a political rally at Mkalo but some of the people that were interviewed said he did not want to meet his main challenger Oliver Nakaoma who is contesting as independent candidate.
However during the debate people were very satisfied with the way Nakoma was articulating on how he is going to develop the area and the way he was responding to the questions.
Kondwani Newa from NICE urged the people to vote for a person of their choice and not to be cheated by other politicians who are telling people not to vote for independent candidates.
Only Independent candidate Oliver Nakoma, Morgan Chirombo for Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and Peter Tikiwa for United Transformation Movement(UTM) turn up for the debate.
