Independent Shadow Member of Parliament for Chiradzulu South Constituency Oliver Nakoma has dismissed claims the governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is responsible for the theft of drugs in public hospitals that has been going on for a while now.

He was speaking during a political debate organized by the National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) at Namitambo in Chiradzulu district.

He said, “it is wrong to accuse government for the theft of drugs in public hospital because the people that are working in the public service belong to all political parties and some are sent by the opposition to tarnish the image of government,” he said.

Nakoma said the best way is to find ways of ending the malpractice than wasting time pointing fingers at each other.

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Shadow MP for the area, Morgan Chirombo initially accused the DPP led administration for the missing of drugs in public hospitals.

He said if elected as MP he will work with the government to make sure that this malpractice is dealt with once and for all.

Concluding, Nakoma further said the issue of missing drugs in public hospital was there even in late Hastings Kamuzu Banda’s era.
