Malawi Congress Party (MCP) aspiring ward councilor for Mtandire in Lilongwe Ruth Chingwalu, has asked youths in the area to refrain from political violence.
Chingwalu said this during a variety show she organized at Chilimampunga ground in Lilongwe.
In her remarks, Mphongo yaikazi as she is popularly known in the area, Chingwalu said she thought of engaging the youths together despite of their political affiliation to advise them as well as encourage them to vote on May 21 polls.
“We want to have peaceful general elections; we have reminded them to refrain from involving themselves in any kind of violence,” Chingwalu said.
She added that it is worrisome seeing some politicians engaging the youths in the country to do evil deeds instead of helping them to build their future.
“Some politicians engage the youths in violence which is not allowed in Malawi,” Chingwalu said.
Spicing up the event was Skeffa Chimoto’s younger brother Jimmy Chimoto encouraged the youth to keep peace as Malawi is the Warm heart of Africa.
He said whosoever will be elected in office should be respected regardless of the political party.
“We need to bury our differences as we cannot belong to one party, but whatever comes on May 21, we should coordinate, join hands and work together to develop the area,” Chimoto said.
Singer Frank Kaunda from Mangochi popularly known by his love songs Chikondi ndimasewera chabe, mphini yobwereza kuwawa also performed during the event.
