There is high turnout of Malawians in the ongoing polling activity that is taking place across the country, as Malawians are voting to elect new leaders.

According to our correspondents in some parts of the country says as early as 4am people were already on polling centers.

This despite minor anomalies voters are facing including missing of names on voters roll but many are being help to cast their votes.

Malawi Electrical Commission (MEC) residing Officer Theodola Chatsika said that   “We have a peaceful elections here with no violence and everything is going very well without disturbance”.

She however added that for a start the turnout was not that pleasing as most voters were not familiar with the voting process.

“Of course at the first there was slow motion because people were ignorant on the electoral process stages, of which right now everything is on track and people are able to manage all the voting process steps” says Chatsika.

Addressing the news conference at tally centre in Blantyre this morning Malawi Electrical Commission (MEC) Chairperson Dr. Jane Ansah encourages Malawians to dial *2019# as a tool of helping people to Know them the right place to vote.

About 6.8 million Malawians are expected to cast their votes whose results will be announced within eight days.
