Information sourced by faceofmalawi indicates that unknown person deliberately transferred United Transformation Movement (UTM) President Saulos Chilima’s name from Lilongwe City polling centre to Likoma Island.
Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Dr. Jane Ansah disclosed this during a media briefing currently underway at the main Tally Centre in the commercial capital Blantyre when responding to a question from the reporter on the missing of Chilima’s name at St. Thomas Polling centre in Lilongwe.
According to Ansah, preliminary investigation has found that his name was transferred to Chiteko School at Likoma and Chizumulu islands.
She said the commission suspects that the name was transferred in December last year.
“We have apprehended a person behind the transfer to get his motive behind his decision,” she said.
Meanwhile Chilima has voted with the help from MEC top officials.
