Drivers assigned to serve in the current tripartite elections in Kasungu district have boycotted their duties over allowance.

One of the drivers who has asked for anonymity said they have only been given K60, 000 while their colleagues in other districts have received K200, 000.

The drivers have since agreed not to continue with their work until they are sorted out.

“We will not go to in different destinations where we were we were supposed to deliver some materials unless we have been paid,” one of the drivers said.

Efforts to talk to the Kasungu District Commissioner (DC) who is the district coordinator for the elections proved futile as he was away in the field monitoring the elections and his phone was unreachable due to network challenges.

District Elections Steering Committee Members were not available, out in the field monitoring the elections.
