District Commissioner (DC) for Mulanje Charles Makanga has urged people to be patient and avoid peddling lies on the elections.
The DC uttered the remarks following reports that the district has counted more voters than the registered number.
In his remarks Makanga said the process to reconcile the votes is still underway.
Makanga expressed shock with the reports whom he said the final number of votes has not yet been established.
“Let me call for patience, auditors are still reconciling votes and it is surprising where people are getting the statistics that we have more votes than the registered people,” Makanga said.
He then assured people that the results will be known later.
In Mulanje, there were about 281, 000 people who registered to vote councilors, Member of Parliament in district’s eight constituencies.
