Women Lawyers Association (WLA) has condemned threats by Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president Lazarus Chakwera.

This has been said by the association’s president Tadala Chimkwezule.

In her remarks Chimkwezule said during violence it is women and children who suffers a lot.

She then appealed to Malawians to be calm as the election results are being processed.

She further said that the association has received complaints from various women in fear of violence acts.

“Some women have told us that they have stopped sending their children to school, others say they fear whenever they go to work,” said Chimkwezule.

In an interview Chimkwezule said they are engaging security personnel to ensure peace.

“We have engaged security agencies to ensure peace during this election period,” she said.

Chimkwezule said MEC should not be bulldozed to release the Tuesday polls result in favor of a particular candidate.
