Malawi Electoral commission (MEC) Chairperson Jane Ansah said most of the complaints on local government polls are issues to do with handouts during political campaign period.
“Most of the complaints of the local government elections are related to section 45 of the law which bans handouts,” said Ansah.
She further added that all the complaints in line with handouts have been directed to the Registrar of political Parties.
“All complaints in this regard have been forwarded to the Registrar of Political Parties. This is the relevant body to prosecute the offense,” she said.
Meanwhile, presidential elections are not yet released following an injunction placed by the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
