A crowd of more than seventy people met outside a temple and threatened to kill a priest accused of raping a girl in Eastbury, Phoenix in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.

A large crowd consisting of men and women demanded that the resident priest be brought out of the temple to face the law.

According to DailySun, it is alleged that the priest raped a girl in her early twenties nearly a month ago.

“She was a follower at the temple and a relative of the accused. The victim did not report the incident to authorities due to her being embarrassed.

“She left her home and relocated to Johannesburg to avoid the priest who lives in the temple next to her home,” said police spokesperson Balram.

Due to no criminal case being registered cops escorted the priest out of the property.

Balram said he was transported to an unknown location by members of his family for safety reasons.

The crowd consisting of family and friends of the female follower vowed to return to the temple and ensure that mob justice done.
