Motorcyclist died in Mchinji on Sunday after he collided with an ambulance near Kwathu Lodge in the district, Police has said.
Deputy Publicist for Mchinji Police, Sergeant Chikondi Kawaza said the deceased, Amos Chimanja,50, died on the spot while his brother who was at the pillion, is battling for his life at Mchinji District Hospital.
She said the motorcyclist collided head on with a Toyota Land Cruiser ambulance, registration number MG 625 AH which was rushing a patient to Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH).
“This happened at around 6:30 pm. The deceased was riding a motorcycle heading to Mchinji Boma and he collided into a cruising ambulance which was heading to KCH with a sick person,” Kawaza said.
Mchinji District Hospital Public Relations Officer, Owen Chataika told MANA that the deceased died of head injuries.
