President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has fired warning shots to civil servants who are dinning with opposition political parties against sabotaging his government, saying once found he will fire them.
Mutharika said this today at Kumuzu Stadium where he presided over the presidential inauguration ceremony marking the beginning of his second term in office.
The Malawi leader has also condemned political violence singling out some cases of violence that occurred as the nation was waiting for announcement of May 21 presidential election results.
“We’ve seen women being beaten and stripped naked just simply because they are members of DPP. I have seen a former Cabinet minister Nicholas Dausi being beaten in public..No human rights organization has spoken against this because these are DPP members,” said Mutharika.
Mutharika then thanked Malawians for re-electing him and he called for unity.
