The body of late Harry Thomson, a former Minister of Trade and Industry during the reign of Dr. Bakili Muluzi will be laid to rest with full military honours as ordered by President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

This has been disclosed in a statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) signed by Chief Secretary to the President Lloyd Muhara.

According to the statement, the State Vice President Honorable Everton Hulbert Chimulirenji will represent President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika at the funeral.  

Thomson died on the wee hours of Thursday at Milpark Hospital in South Africa after a long illness.

Thomson served as the Minister of Trade and Industry and Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs in the Bakili Muluzi administration.

He was also a former Member of Parliament for Chikwawa North.
