President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has asked for calm especially on those people pushing for the Cabinet, saying before June 21 he will release his new 20 member Cabinet.
Mutharika said this on Sunday during a ‘Victory rally’ held at Njamba Freedom Park in the commercial capital Blantyre.
“I am currently working on the cabinet which will be a representative of all sections; men, women, the youth and the elderly.
“Before the National Budget Sitting of Parliament, we will have a new and functional cabinet comprising 20 members,” Mutharika said.
According to Mutharika, he will open Parliament on June 21 and he said by that time there will be a cabinet in place.
He said people with ambition to become cabinet ministers or deputies should be patient since it cannot be possible for everyone to be included.
Coming to development projects, Mutharika said he will outline the development projects during the opening of Parliament.
President Mutharika was declared winner in the disputed elections on Monday last week after amassing 37 percent of the votes beating his strong contender Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera who got 35 percent.
Meanwhile Chakwera is challenging the electoral results in court.
