A faith based organization, New Life Anointed Ministries has drilled two boreholes at Nantapo village in Phalombe district.
The two boreholes have been handed over to two Early Childhood Development Education Centers (ECDE).
During the hand in ceremony of the boreholes, Director of New Life Anointed Ministries, Bishop Christopher Kapito, said the organization understands the importance of water in people’s lives.
“Water is life; that’s why we have assisted the locals with two boreholes to access potable water,” said Kapito.
In his remarks Group Village Headman Kaledzera said the situation is pathetic because people wake up as early as 3 AM daily to fetch water from the nearby villages.
Kaledzera said, for example, in the area of Khanaja with a population of over 1, 000 households has only one unreliable borehole and most of the water taps that locals rely stopped supplying water effectively.
“Potable water is scarce in my area; I urge authorities to do something to avert problems that my subjects are facing,” said Kaledzera.
The boreholes have been drilled to the tune of K9.5 million.
