Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that Thuchira Bridge at Nkando Trading centre along Midima road in Mulanje has been burnt rendering motorists hopeless.
Mulanje District Director of Planning and Development, Mercy Mpakule confirmed of the incident in an interview with the press.
According to Makupe, the incident happened around 10:00pm Monday night.
It is however suspected that a mad person, who made the bridge his home, might be the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile police in Mulanje have launched an investigation over the matter.
