The newly-elected vice president in the May 21 Tripartite elections, Everton Chimulirenji goofed at the US-Africa Business Summit in Maputo, Mozambique.

The Malawi vice President, said Malawi attained her independence in 1994, instead of 1964.

This year the country will be celebrating 54 years of independence on July 6.

Despite making such mistake, Chimulirenji did not make any corrections he moved on reading his prepared speech.

It is also reported that he had difficulties in pronouncing some words such as ‘tourism’.

This is not the first time Chimulirenji goofed whilst making presentations, he once mistaken the death of late Bingu wa Mutharika to President Peter Mutharika saying ‘Mzimu wa Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika Uuse mu Mtendere’ (May the soul of professor Arthur Peter Mutharika rest in Peace).
