Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and United Transformation Movement (UTM) President are at the High Court where the court is expected to make a ruling on whether to continue with the elections case or throw it out as requested by President Peter Mutharika who is 1st respondent in the case.
Chakwera arrived at the Court together with thousands of MCP supporters who were chanting songs of plause while attacking the sitting President.
According to information at hand, there is heavy police presence at the Constitutional Court.
The men in uniform have blocked the main entrance of the court and only selected individuals are allowed in as opposition party followers are anxiously waiting outside the court premises.
MCP vice president Sidik Mia, Secretary General Eisenhower Mkaka, are among the top MCP officials present.
UTM officials, including the party’s spokesperson Joseph Chidanti Malunga and Jessie Kabwila, present at the court.
