President Peter Mutharika has appointed Kondwani Nankhumwa who is the Minister of Agriculture, irrigation and Water Development as the leader of government in the August house.
Nankhumwa held the same position in the last cohort of Parliament who replaced George Chaponda who was involved in the Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) Maizegate scandal.
The announcement has been made by the Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) Lloyd Muhara.
Muhara said Nankhumwa will be aided by Nkhotakota North East parliamentarian Martha Lunji, who has been appointed as the Minister of Labour, Skills and Innovations.
Speaking after being appointed, Nankhumwa and Lunji expressed their gratitude by saying that they feel humbled to be appointed by the president to take up such a challenging post and they promised to commit themselves to work according to the standing orders of the house.
