Main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has appointed lawmaker for Liongwe Central Lobin Lowe as the Party’s Chief Whip in the National Assembly, faceofmalawi can reveal.
The appointment of Lowe follows an order by Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara on Friday last week asking all political parties to submit names of its leaders in the August House by end of business today.
According to information sourced by faceofmalawi, Lowe who once served as leader of opposition following the resignation of MCP President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera in the run up to the May 21 tripartite election will be deputized by Khumbize Kandodo.
However there is no Leader of Opposition chosen as MCP maintains Peter Mutharika’s presidency is illegitimate pending court decision.
