All political parties represented in Parliament have chosen their leaders in the chamber except Malawi Congress Party (MCP) which did not choose its leader saying the party has more unresolved issues hence no need to rush in appointing the leader.

This has been said by MCP’s secretary general Eisenhower Mkaka.

However, Mkaka, on Sunday said they would engage National Assembly secretarial before coming up with its stand on its leadership in the House.

“As a party, we have discussed the issue. But we will have to discuss the issue with the secretariat at Parliament tomorrow. There are things that need to be clarified,” Mkaka said.

During the opening of Parliament last Friday, Speaker of the National Assembly, Catherine Gotani-Hara, called for names of the parties’ leadership to be submitted today.

Meanwhile, all the political parties adhere to speaker Gotani Hara’s call except MCP.

If the disputed Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) presidential election results are anything to go by, MCP would be the main opposition party in the august House.
