President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has asked all opposition political parties in the country to concede defeat and give him chance to develop the country.
Mutharika said this on Tuesday during the official opening of the European Union-funded Bwanje Dam which will support Bwanje Irrigation Scheme in Dedza district.
Addressing a gathering at Nsekeni School Ground in Mtakataka Mutharika said if the opposition will not concede defeat they will keep crying.
“I promised that I will squeeze and crash them and I just did that and they are now crying,” said Mutharika while attracting ululations from the people gathered at the rally.
He then thanked voters for choosing him in the May 21 elections saying Malawians snubbed opposition parties because the parties are not development oriented.
Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and United Transformation Movement (UTM) President Dr. Saulos Chilima are protesting the outcome of the May 21 tripartite election.
The two political parties are accusing the ruling DPP of conniving with the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) and rigged the polls.
Chakwera and Chilima have since sued to court over the matter.
