In an incident which turned hundreds of sad faces into smiling ones, a 20-year-old Indian man woke up from the dead just sometime before his burial.

Furqan who had met an accident on June 21 was admitted to a private hospital in Lucknow where the doctors declared him dead, a report in the Times of India said.

The preparations of his last rites were underway at his home with neighbours and relatives mourning the loss of youth and were waiting for his body to arrive. But when Furqan’s body was taken out of the ambulance amid the neighbours and relatives sobbing, movement was seen in his body.

As soon as the family members, relative and other mourners saw the movement, the sad and hopeless eyes filled with hope and Furqan was rushed to a nearby hospital where he woke up and required measures were immediately taken including putting him on oxygen.

But due to the unavailability of the ventilator, Furqan was referred to another hospital, but finally was admitted in private hospital in Indira Nagar. Mohd Irtan, the elder brother Furqan told reporters that Furqan met an accident on June 21 and was admitted to a private hospital.

Mohd Irfan was quoted by The Times Of India. “The hospital put him on ventilator and started charging us huge fees. We paid and when we informed the hospital that we had run out of money, they declared Furqan dead on Monday,” Irfan claimed.

“When we took the body home, a family member noticed that he was breathing. Others standing there also saw limb movement. We then rushed him to RML hospital immediately where doctors put him on oxygen support,” he added.

“We have taken cognizance of the incident and the matter will be thoroughly probed,” Dr Narendra Agarwal, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) said.

Dr Ashok Nirala, the doctor at the private medical facility where Furqan is currently undergoing treatment said, “The patient is in critical condition but definitely not brain dead.

He has pulse, blood pressure and his reflexes are working. He has been put on ventilator support.”
