Twelve students from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) are in police custody following a violent protest on Monday.
The students are against a fee hike from K362, 500 to K420 000 for generic students, arguing many cannot afford the new rate.
The students blocked Bunda – Mitundu road and police had to use teargas to disperse the angry learners who retaliated by pelting stones at the law enforcers.
The demonstrations have entered day two today and students are burning tyres, chanting against the school management.
