A Malawian woman in Zambia has been arrested after she was found with more than 17.85 kilograms of ephedrine in 36 handbags.
Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) public relations officer, Theresa Katongo has confirmed the news saying the woman was arrested in Livingstone.
Katongo 28-year-old Shakira Kasusu was arrested upon arrival at the Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone from India.
“The Commission in Southern Province has arrested a 28 year old female Malawian national, Shakira Kasusu, for trafficking in 17.85 kg of ephedrine concealed in 36 handbags. The suspect was arrested at the Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone upon arrival from India.” She said.
Meanwhile, the suspect is in police custody and will appear in court soon.
